ASHI training programs meet the most current International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR)/American Heart Association,® Inc. (AHA) CPR, ECC, and First Aid Guidelines, the Recommendations of the Federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and the Standards for First Aid and CPR training of the American Academy of Pediatrics, American Public Health Association, and National Resource Center for Health and Safety in Child Care and Early Education. HSI is a nationally accredited organization of the Continuing Education Coordinating Board for Emergency Medical Services (CECBEMS). CECBEMS is the national accrediting body for Emergency Medical Services (EMS) continuing education courses and course providers. CECBEMS accreditation requires an evidence-based peer-review process for continuing education programs comparable to all healthcare accreditors. ASHI basic and advanced life support training programs for healthcare providers are CECBEMS approved.

    ASHI Advanced First Aid is designed for the person who needs or desires more first aid training than Basic First Aid, but not to the level of Emergency Medical Response. Perfect for corporate emergency response teams, this 17-21 hour course presents many of the most common illnesses and injuries responders are likely to encounter.

  • Emergency Medical Response

    ASHI Emergency Medical Response is designed to provide non-EMS responders including government, corporate, law enforcement, and corrections personnel with a level of training comparable to a professional Emergency Medical Responder. This 48-hour course is consistent with national EMS curriculum requirements and educations standards, however, it is not the intent of the ASHI Emergency Medical Response program to cross the EMS scope of practice threshold.

    Skills Evaluation:Required. Correctly demonstrate how to: Work as the lead responder in a scenario-based team setting to adequately direct the primary assessment and care of: a. Patient Assessment/Management – Trauma, b. Patient Assessment/Management – Medical, c. BVM Ventilation of an Apneic Adult Patient, d. Oxygen Administration by Non-rebreather Mask, e. Cardiac Arrest Management/AED

    Successful completion is based on achievement of the core learning objectives rather than a prescribed instruction time

    Medical Oversight:

    Training Centers who are certifying public safety personnel (law enforcement officers, firefighters, corrections officers) in Emergency Medical Response must have physician level (MD or DO) oversight.

    State Licensure and Credentialing of Emergency Medical Responders:

    State EMS agencies have the legal authority and responsibility to license, regulate, and determine the scope of practice of EMS providers within the state EMS system. ASHI’s Emergency Medical Response program is designed to train and certify individuals in Emergency Medical Response — not to license or credential — Emergency Medical Responders. Individuals who require or desire licensure and credentialing within the state EMS system must complete specific requirements established by the regulating authority. It is not the intent of ASHI’s Emergency Medical Response program to cross the EMS scope of practice threshold.

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

    ASHI ACLS is intended for emergency personnel in intensive care or critical care departments and emergency medical providers.

    ASHI ACLS Digital Resource Kit

    To access the ASHI ACLS program materials, an ASHI Training Center must purchase the ASHI ACLS Digital Resource Kit (DRK-ACLS) and have at least one Instructor who has completed and finalized the G2010 ACLS update. Once purchased, the Resource Kit is available in the documents section of the Training Center Manager. No materials will ship to you, program materials are only available as digital downloads.

    The Digital Resource Kit contains the following components:

    Preparatory (PowerPoint slides, Lesson Plans, and Test Bank questions), Case Studies (PowerPoint slides and Lesson Plan), Program Resource documents (Instructor Resource Guide, Performance Evaluations, Rosters, etc.) and, ACLS Exam documents.

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

    ASHI PALS is intended for emergency personnel in intensive care or critical care departments and emergency medical providers. The overall goal of the ASHI PALS Course is to provide healthcare professionals with didactic and psychomotor skills training in the recognition and treatment of conditions that may lead to cardiopulmonary arrest in an infant or child. ASHI PALS incorporates both pre-hospital and hospital management of pediatric emergencies and reflects the 2010 guidelines for CPR and emergency cardiovascular care.

    CECBEMS

    Continuing Educations Hours (CEH) for EMS professionals are available for ASHI PALS from Health & Safety Institute (HSI), a Continuing Education Coordinating Board for Emergency Medical Services (CECBEMS) Accredited Organization.

    ASHI ACLS Digital Resource Kit

  • Wilderness Emergency Care

    The Wilderness Emergency Care (WEC) program supports a family of courses to meet the needs of everyone with outdoor interests, from easy day trips to challenging and technical activities, including wilderness rescue. The WEC textbook not only explains the concepts in clear language, it also shows you how to do all the skills, step by step, with many photos and drawings. The WEC Instructor Guide provides course outlines and lesson plans for all the wilderness courses and explains how to plan, prepare for, teach and evaluate a course. It also has a great collection of resources - including quizzes, scenarios for practical exams and evaluation forms.

    WEC Family of Courses

    Basic Wilderness First Aid is an intensive 8- to 10-hour course for those who are involved in wilderness recreation. This course may also meet the needs of volunteers and professionals who lead groups on short trips in relatively low-risk situations.

    Wilderness First Aid is a 16- to 20-hour course for those who are involved in serious wilderness activities. This course is the choice of many wilderness trip leaders and guides.

    Wilderness First Responder is a 60- to 80-hour course for wilderness professionals and others who want a higher level of training or require WFR certification.

    Wilderness EMT Upgrade is a 40-hour course for those who are already certified as EMTs. The course builds on EMT training and adds wilderness concepts and skills with many role-playing scenarios.

  • Wilderness First Aid

    Wilderness environments create special situations not usually encountered in an urban or suburban environment. With ASHI’s Wilderness First Aid, Instructors certified to teach CPR/AED, basic first aid, and have wilderness experience can take advantage of ASHI’s flexible instructional design. This comprehensive 16-20 hour course meets the Boy Scouts of America Wilderness First Aid curriculum and guidelines.

    Course Includes

    Preparation and Assessment, Preventing and Caring for Injuries, Environmental Hazards, Biological Hazards, & Medical Emergencies.
