Quality Assurance FAQs

Do ASHI and MEDIC First Aid CPR and first aid training programs follow American Heart Association® (AHA) guidelines?

Yes. ASHI and MEDIC First Aid training programs follow the most recent International Consensus on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC) Science with Treatment Recommendations (CoSTR) as well as the AHA Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care.  For more information visit Regulator Resource page.

Are HSI training programs nationally recognized?

Yes. Our programs are accepted as substantially equivalent to the AHA and American Red Cross (ARC) by most state regulatory authorities, the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT), the Department of Homeland Security/United States Coast Guard. HSI is nationally accredited by the Continuing Education Board for Emergency Medical Services (CECBEMS).

Are HSI training programs approved by OSHA?

The Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) does not approve first aid or CPR training programs, instructors, or trainees. However... HSI programs help organizations comply with OSHA requirements for workplace health and safety training.
