Around here, we really love Otis, our Online Training & Information System. We’ve heard great feedback from our instructors and training center directors as well, saying they find Otis easy to navigate and loaded with the tools they need to run their training center.
The LMS (learning management system) and administrative interface a director or instructor uses to schedule classes, order materials, and manage students is a big part of why instructors might choose one training program brand over another. But not all trainers use their LMS, choosing instead to use a paper-based, manually operated management system.
If you have been reluctant to get onboard the Otis train, we encourage you to give it a try, and being a techie isn’t a prerequisite. On the contrary, we made Otis with the non-technical user in mind, making the tools easy to use and the processes as automated as possible.
Plus, we have two on-demand resources you can turn to when you need that little extra help.
Otis How-To Videos
Throughout the Otis system, you’ll find short video tutorials on how to do tasks and use tools. And by short, I mean short. Like under 5 minutes. When you’re on any page after you login to Otis, click the blue help button on the top right. It will open the help center and, if there is a help video available for any topics on that page, you will see the link next to the text help.
You can also access the videos by selecting Administration > Otis Learning from the navigation bar. The videos are organized by the tools in the navigation bar.
Sometimes a quickie video tute isn’t enough, and that’s when you can pull out the big guns and spend 30 minutes at one of our regularly scheduled webinars. These free seminars cover such Otis fare as the class wizard tools, the website builder, and a great introductory presentation for the brand new user. We record our webinars as well, and they are available for anytime listening through Otis (go to Administration > Otis Learning from the navigation bar and you’ll see the webinars at the bottom of the list).
