Long-time blog readers know we’ve got some strong opinions around here about “instant CPR and first aid certification.” These are the websites that offer online-only CPR and first aid “courses” or “exams” that “meet requirements” yet have no hands-on skill practice or evaluation.
One problem, and it’s a big one: No major nationally recognized training program in the United States endorses certification in CPR, first aid, or professional-level resuscitation without plenty of hands-on skill practice and evaluation by a qualified instructor. Additionally, regulatory agencies across North America have become aware of the "instant certification" scams and are revising their regulations to prevent its use.

To help get the word out and educate consumers about counterfeit first aid and CPR certification, we’ve put together a public service announcement website with some facts and recommendations for anyone seeking CPR training to meet their occupational requirements.
We invite all our ASHI and MEDIC First Aid training centers to add a link (http://news.hsi.com/onlineonlycpr) to the site from their own business websites or copy the code to the right to place the alert button on your site. Let your customers (and potential customers) know the facts about this unfortunate practice.
If you need assistance adding the link to your site, feel free to buzz our tech support team at 877.440.6049 and we’ll walk you through it.
Thank you for everything you do to bring quality, legitimate CPR and first aid training to your communities and local businesses. You make learning to save and protect lives easy!
